Media I consumed during Pregnancy

Media I consumed during Pregnancy

Pregnancy can be an overwhelming time. From worries about the world, to anxiety about the wee fetus growing, to how how our lives will be completely changed after gestation and the birth is over. Sometimes external noise can be overwhelming and can cause added stress. For this reason I am mindful about the media and company I keep during this sacrosanct time.

fill your head with good things

Here are some of the books, podcasts, content creators, and overall messages I consumed to help support my overall wellbeing through this pregnancy. This is not an endorsement of the entire works created by folks mentioned. This is not sponsored. Take everything with a grain of salt. I relied on my intuition, and the expertise of my birth support team and I only engaged with the content when I felt mentally ready to do so instead of forcing myself to prepare.

TV:

I was bedridden a lot during my first trimester with nausea and consumed a lot of tv those first few weeks. I encourage you to watch what brings you joy, lifts your spirits, and makes you laugh. I found that a lot of action, fast paced, and high adrenaline movies were too much for me as I was delicate emotionally. So I watched a lot of Brooklyn 99, and the Great British Baking show, guaranteed crowd pleasers.

Apps:

Insight Timer for meditation. There are many pregnancy related meditations available for free to help soothe anxiety , ground, and help connect you to your body and baby.

Spotify for podcasts

Podcasts

birthful

this episode specifically of her Holistic path

Books:

Naturally Healthy Families and Children

Naturally Healthy Pregnancy

Mindful birthing

Nurture

Real Nutrition for Pregnancy and Beyond

The Childbearing Year - ( yes I am aware Susan Weed is an unsafe person, but this book is a good resource, I purchased it on thriftbooks to direct my $ away from her) .

Social Media Pages / Groups

Groups on facebook and other apps can be helpful, but also super toxic and anxiety inducing. Utilize them with care, listen to your body, and log off when you feel off.

#ideservebirthsupport , A facebook group ran by Dr Aviva Romm and her team.

Nourisherdoula

Doula Kaytee

I also really liked Jillian , Noelle, and Organic Olivia for food ideas

Lastly, if possible- go outside. Go on walks, ground yourself in nature. It can be as simple as walking your block, or sitting under a tree at nearby park. This daily practice is good you, and the baby.

A special thank you to Microdosing mom for sharing some of the apps and podcasts with me in our nourishing IG conversations as we were pregnant at the same time! Community is so important friends.

Here is a link to everything I shared in one spot
